It is wonderful that you can articulate such an experience. It is something beyond words and memory. The only remaining clue is what the heart senses and a physical reaction, not always capable of being translated by what has come before.

I have been experiencing the awakening since I was 14.. I think before, but I was too young to recognize... we all have generations of trauma built up in our DNA... this process allows us not only to free ourselves, but to break the generational patterns of trauma for our grandchildren's grandchildren...

“One of the most common missteps in awakening is remaining anchored in the intellectual layer”

~and~

“Holding space without judgement”

The bridge you describe, with its sway and challenges of balance, is the great transition between Self vs self. The surrender of self IS the awakening process.

Thank you for your wisdom, OC…welcome signposts on the journey!!

Surrender of self, just as God’s word also tells us. It’s no coincidence that ‘self’ is so often an impediment. You soar, Feather!!🪶 🕊️🩷🙏

Thanks FJ for highlighting "common misstep in awakening is remaining anchored in the intellectual layer" Reminds me of a concept I haven't heard for a while, which is the idea of Spiritual Intelligence; Our Ultimate Intelligence (Danah Zohar).

Our intellectual or rational intelligence is what we use to solve logical or strategic problems (IQ). Emotional Intelligence (EQ) gives us awareness of our own and other people's feelings. It gives us empathy, compassion, motivation and the ability to respond appropriately to pain or pleasure. EQ is a basic requirement for effective use of IQ.

There is a third "Q." By SQ ... the intelligence with which we address and solve problems of meaning and value, the intelligence with which we can place our actions and our lives in a wider, richer, meaning-giving context, the intelligence with which we can assess that one course of action or one life-path is more meaningful than another.

SQ is the necessary foundation for the effective functioning of both IQ and EQ. It is our ultimate intelligence.

Neither IQ nor EQ, separately or in combination, is enough to explain the full complexity of human intelligence nor the vast richness of the human soul and imagination.

Computers have high IQ: they know what the rules are and can follow them without making mistakes. Animals often have high EQ: they have a sense of the situation they are in and know how to respond appropriately.

But neither computers nor animals ask why we have these rules or this situation, or whether either could be different or better. They work within boundaries, playing a ‘finite game’.

SQ allows human beings to be creative, to change the rules and to alter situations. It allows us to play with the boundaries, to play an ‘infinite game’

It is in its transformative power that SQ differs mainly from EQ.

As Daniel Goleman defines it, my emotional intelligence allows me to judge what situation I am in and then to behave appropriately within it.

This is working within the boundaries of the situation, allowing the situation to guide me.

But my spiritual intelligence allows me to ask if I want to be in this particular situation in the first place. Would I rather change the situation, creating a better one?

This is working with the boundaries of my situation, allowing me to guide the situation.

Finally, because as we shall see when we look at the neurological basis of SQ, it literally operates out of the brain’s centre – from the brain’s neurological unifying functions – it integrates all our intelligences.

SQ makes us the fully intellectual, emotional and spiritual creatures that we are.

Ideally, our three basic intelligences work together and support one another. Our brains are designed so that they can do this.

What you describe as the transitioning of the Self vs the self, I see as Self (soul) vs self (ego). So when OC describes the awakening process, I view as awakening of Soul Consciousness.

At the risk of providing TMI, I must add what Joel Goldsmith highlights in The Infinite Way:

Goldsmith-The Infinite Way

That there is a Soul-force we know, but that this Soul-power can do more for us than all the material and mental power combined is but little suspected. Perhaps one reason for the world’s lack of interest in this vast subject is that this great reservoir of power resident in our Soul cannot be used for selfish purposes.

Think of the enormity of this – a great marvelous power at hand, and yet it can never be used to serve a selfish end.

Herein lies the secret of why so few achieve Soul-consciousness.

We only become aware of the presence of the Soul after we have freed ourselves of selfish desires, and in proportion to our desire to serve the interests of mankind do we individualize this infinite power within us.

It is right, natural, and normal that we live full, happy, and prosperous lives, but we can do this without taking thought for ourselves, for our supply, or even our health.

All of the good necessary to our welfare will be supplied to us in greater abundance than we can accept when we give up the effort and desire to get, achieve, or accomplish, and come more into the consciousness of desiring only to fulfill our destiny on earth.

We are here as part of a divine plan.

We are Consciousness fulfilling and expressing Itself in an individual way, and if we will learn to keep our thought away from ourselves and away from the fear that we will be without place or income or health, and let God fulfill Its destiny through us or as us, we will really find all things added unto us.

The Bible is literally true when it says that “the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof” and “Son . . . all that I have is thine.” There is no need therefore to take any anxious thought for our own well-being.

As we forget ourselves and learn to be a state of receptivity, we will find ourselves filled with Soul-power, Soul- consciousness, Soul-resources, and our lives will be filled with the company of Soul-filled men and women sharing the joys of their discoveries with us.

Maybe it’s not just “forgetting ourselves” but consciously surrendering that personal small ‘s’ self, the ego illusion of self. Intellectually, I love the idea and wisdom of that surrender…but actually doing it is challenging. The ego is very clever and the layers are deep…still, spiritual intelligence strengthens with the intention and the intention, the desire, cultivates a devotion that sometimes feels exquisite and irresistible.

Lately it feels like one step forward, two backwards! Joel Goldsmith’s teachings are hard, but like ACIM, he says this isn’t the “real world.” Sure feel real in the midst of chaos.

one step forward, two backwards”

That happened to me this morning during my fairly recent discipline (after a lapse) of starting my day in 15+ minutes of meditation. The parade of thoughts was more distracting than usual and I felt agitated by it…typical me, I was about to engage in a conflict with myself when I realized I was creating a whole lot of effort. Intellectual and emotional effort. It made me laugh at myself…I was thankful to see it, that level of the split mind (ego) that uses intellectual emotional effort to distract from the discovery of a quiet Mind.

I am not familiar with Joel Goldsmith. I am very familiar with ACIM, David Hawkins, and lately Edgar Cayce readings on Jesus and meditation.

“ this isn’t the “real world.” Sure feel real in the midst of chaos. “

One step forward... two steps backwards...

We learn from transcending the old world as we step into the new world... we must carry what was helpful of our old world behaviors forward... transcending and including...

We have emotional connection to our old world... the two steps backwards is indicative of the need to notice what we are still connected to and work to release it...

We don't release it all... just what no longer serves us...

Grieving the loss of our old world patterns allows us to slowly release the past world connection... this isn't a race... take your time and be patient with what the two steps back is trying to show you...

The next article in the series will help with that...

Thank you for this. In my journey, being able to manifest beyond the physical limitations is the biggest challenge. We are so programmed by it; juvenile at understanding that our frequencies can allow us to tune into different realms. But, that reminder to get there still needs some physical thing to do so, and is so constant, that it’s hard to break away from that programmed mindset. Getting to a state of full consciousness takes time and a lot of practice; the hardest being silencing the noise of this physical world. Tune in deeper into the frequencies; the more you do it, the more you will reach deeper into consciousness. The problem though, is, will you want to return to the physical?

Boundaries + grief/hurt, and growing from experiencing the necessity of creating and minding one's boundaries, and growing from grief/hurt = difficulty. Common ground, consensus, guides my life; some kind of harmony is needed to live on Earth. So outer dissonance with others is contained, largely, but when not (usually from the others), the opportunity to just stfu is important. I've been largely doing that, however, I'm learning that if a response seems required, instead of pushing "my truth", far better to ask questions instead. I realize I am kind of desperate to be around kindness, kindred souls....but providing my answers, my views, in all matters, personal or world, is just not welcome. Again, finding it far better to ask, not tell. Connectedness is with the One Who transcends and is ever-present. Connectedness is pretty much not happening on this physical plane. That's the awakening I have contended with all my life, and which strangely seems to have intensified massively over the past 6 years, and getting "worse". Thank you Consciousness, you write what is needed.

ME, thank you for commenting... thank you for sharing this so honestly...

What you’re describing is a deep, lived wisdom born from grief, restraint, and love for harmony... learning when to hold silence, when to ask instead of assert, and how to protect tenderness in a loud world is maturation...

The longing for kindness and kindred souls is real, and so is the ache of not finding it embodied around you... you’re not alone in that awakening, even when it feels that way... be blessed! Stay the course...
