Protect Your Energy
A Grounded Guide to Staying Whole in a World That Pulls You Apart
We don’t talk about it enough. But I think we all feel it.
That constant hum. That low-grade buzz of too much, too fast, from too many directions.
A sense of always being on - absorbing, reacting, filtering, performing - like life has become a background download you can’t pause.
This isn’t about being spiritual. It’s about being human. About living in a world that takes more than it gives, unless you learn how to reclaim yourself.
I’m not here to pitch you crystals or apps. I’m just a person who had to learn, the hard way, how to take care of my energy.
And if you’re reading this, maybe you feel it too.
We Are Being Hit from All Angles
Start with the obvious… your phone.
It’s not just a tool, it’s a portal.
A dopamine casino. A rolling slot machine of opinion, outrage, comparison, noise.
You open it to check a message. And suddenly, you’re five videos deep. Tense without knowing why.
The algorithm doesn’t care about your peace, it only cares about your attention.
Then there’s the news…
Every day feels like another fire to track - war, collapse, fear, division.
Not built to inform you, designed to activate you.
To steal your attention, to rent your nervous system.
And we haven’t even touched your inbox, your obligations, your worries, or the people around you - who may draw from your bandwidth just to stabilize their own.
No wonder so many of us are tired - even when we sleep.
Numb - even when life looks fine.
Jumpy - even when sitting still.
The body keeps the score - yes.
But so does your nervous system. So does the field you live in - emotional, digital, relational, mental.
This is what I mean by energy.
Not mystical, just real…
Your capacity, your presence, and your battery.
The force that lets you show up, adapt, relate, care, recover.
The thing you draw from all day, and often forget to refill.
You’re Not Broken - You’re Overloaded
It’s easy to think the exhaustion is weakness.
Like if you were stronger or more disciplined, you wouldn’t feel off.
But maybe the issue isn’t you.
Maybe it’s the modern condition - being relentlessly pinged, pulled, scanned, split.
We weren’t made to metabolize this much noise. This many updates. This level of velocity.
We were made to be near what’s real. To move at the pace of presence.
When your energy’s off, your system knows.
You can’t think clearly. Emotions are foggy or chaotic.
You scroll, but don’t feel.
You react more, yet enjoy less.
And it happens so subtly - that by the time you notice, you’re already halfway depleted.
That’s not weakness.
That’s saturation.
You don’t need to disappear into the woods.
You just need to start protecting your energy, like it matters.
Because it does.
Protecting What Powers You
Let’s break it down. Energy leaks in four primary ways:
Mental bandwidth - too much information, not enough space to process
Emotional load - carrying what isn’t yours, feeling too much without release
Environmental friction - clutter, interruptions, noise, urgency
Digital drag - fractured focus, algorithmic loops, scroll fatigue
You don’t have to fix it all overnight.
But you do have to notice it.
Because the first step in reclaiming your energy, is realizing you can.
It’s not abstract, it’s measurable, and it’s recoverable.
Here’s what that looks like in practice.
The Art of Noticing
Start with this…
When do you feel most drained? Who or what leaves you jittery, foggy, heavy? When does your attention splinter? Where in life do you always feel behind, even when you’re doing everything?
Watch - Track - Listen - and more importantly - Feel…
Your life becomes a dashboard.
This is systems thinking, applied to your own nervous system.
Not cold, just true.
When you see clearly - you can design for recovery, not just output.
Design for Energy - Not Just Efficiency
We’ve been trained to optimize for productivity.
More done with less rest.
But you are not a machine.
Ask a different question:
Does this give me energy, or cost me energy?
Apply it to:
Your space
Your habits
Your conversations
Your media intake
Your diet
Your schedule
If it drains you, and adds no value, that’s a flag.
This doesn’t mean you quit everything.
It means rebalancing.
Choosing inputs that restore.
Making peace with rest - not as indulgence, but maintenance.
Breathing room is not optional.
Boundaries Are Energy Filters
Boundaries aren’t just about saying no.
They’re about deciding what you carry.
You are allowed to not reply right away. You are allowed to walk away from draining dynamics. You are allowed to say, “This isn’t mine to fix.”
Every time you enforce a boundary, you reclaim a breath.
A little more charge, and a little more clarity.
Burnout isn’t always from doing too much.
It’s from holding what was never yours.
Reconnection Is Fuel
Protecting energy isn’t just defense.
It’s restoration.
There are sources that fill you - no performance, no metrics, and no scrolling.
What restores you?
Maybe it’s silence, or music, or stillness. Maybe it’s that first warm cup of coffee in the morning light. Maybe it’s walking barefoot in the yard. Maybe it’s building something with your hands. Maybe it’s a prayer, a song, or a simple breath.
It doesn’t have to be big.
It just has to be real…
These are your grounding wires. Your access points back to coherence.
You don’t need to post it.
You just need to feel it.
Coherence in a Fractured World
The more fractured the world becomes, the more your own coherence matters.
Taking care of your energy isn’t selfish.
It’s responsible.
Especially if you give a lot, lead a lot, and feel a lot.
You can’t stabilize others while destabilized. You can’t speak truth while fogged. You can’t radiate calm while buzzing with urgency.
Your clarity is a contribution. Your groundedness is service.
So if the world feels chaotic right now, maybe the most radical thing you can do…
…is not to scream louder…
…but to return to yourself.
This Is Not Woo - It’s Necessary
You don’t need to believe in frequencies or chakras to know this:
Your energy shapes everything.
It changes how you parent. How you create. How you relate. How you lead. How you recover. How you respond when life squeezes you.
Protecting it is not optional. Not if you want to stay whole. Not if you want to remember who you are.
You get one body, one nervous system, and one perceptual field.
You matter.
Final Thought - One Person to Another
If you’re still here, thank you.
This isn’t trite, it’s a lifeline.
From someone who had to learn to take care of energy the hard way - by ignoring signs, pushing through, and wondering why life felt so far away.
I’m still learning. But here’s what I know…
You don’t have to burn yourself out to belong. You don’t have to carry what was never yours. You’re allowed… no, required… to protect what powers you.
Your energy…
Return to yourself.
Start there.
If this resonated with you, and you feel called, a cup of coffee is always appreciated.

This is the first time I’m reading your work, and yes, I’m totally aligned with what you’re saying. I’ll share this with my daughter. Thank you!
Thank you! A much needed refresher course in survival.
